Belgrade has 194 monuments and 239 sculptures in its squares and parks, of which a very small number are dedicated to women.
This realisation motivated me to come up with an urban intervention that would have an educational role and serve as an example by positively participating in the creation of a new city fabric.
I decided to create a sculpture that would celebrate women whose role and contribution throughout history have remained insufficiently researched and recognised.
Kosava is a kinetic sculpture that uses wind power to come to life. The hair is made of turbines that are in constant motion and only rely on minimal airflow to spin.
The aluminium sculpture is 5.3 meters high, 6.5 meters long and 2.5 meters wide and is anchored to the base plate via reinforcing bars.
The names of the 194 Serbian women - who left their mark in the fields of science, medicine and Art - are perforated on the chest.
The project was developed in collaboration with architect and 3D visual artist Ivan Grcic and is currently being submitted to various institutions.
